Downtown Winnipeg Tours – Not Just for Summer!

For those of you who follow me on social media, especially on Instagram where I do Instagram-stories, you’ve probably seen that I do lots of fun tours of Downtown Winnipeg.  Usually at this time of year, we’re wrapping up our Downtown Winnipeg Tour season…but not this year!  I will be offering tours year-round and in fact have just launched a couple of new winter-only tours!

Tours that will run year-round include:

Tap In Tour (beer tour) – $40.00

Four restaurant stops with participants receiving a beer and appetizers at each stop along the way. Next tour – Friday, November 3rd!

Winnipeg Wine Tour – $85.00

Three restaurant stops with two wine samples and food pairings at each stop (total of six glasses of wine!) Next tour – Friday, November 23rd!

Breakfast Club – $40.00

Whether you’re a brain, an athlete, a basket-case or a princess, join us as we hit up three to four of downtown Winnipeg’s best breakfast spots for the most important meal of the day! Next tour – Sunday, November 26th!

NEW FOR WINTER 2017/2018

Cocktail Crawl – $40.00

Four restaurant stops with participants receiving a cocktail and appetizers at each stop.  This is the winter version of my popular Patio Crawl (shown left) – we’ll use the Winnipeg Walkways to walk from restaurant to restaurant without going outside at all! First tour – Friday, November 10th!

Bikes & Brunch – $40.00

The winter version of our Moveable Feast Bike tour – there is an option to either bring your own winterized/fat bike or to rent one for an additional $20 through us.  We will bike to three to four breakfast/brunch spots.  If you’ve ever been looking for an excuse to get on a fat bike, this is IT!

First tour – Sunday, December 2nd!

I’d love to see you and your friends out at some of my tours!  To book any of the tours, please visit www.downtownwinnipegtours.com.

The Tours are back in town!

With the warm weather coming in full force, I’m finally starting to feel the winter chill in my bones fade away. What this means for us Winnipeggers: a whole season of great outdoor activities! This week I thought I’d share something I’m most excited to take part in this summer.

The Downtown Tours, hosted by the Downtown Winnipeg BIZ, are a super fun way to explore my favourite part of the city—downtown! This year there’s more restaurants, more dates, and more delicious tastes to discover!

A Moveable Feast: BYOB: Bring Your Own Bike and cycle to various restaurants and coffee shops around downtown. Your $40 ticket price will get you coffee samplings and appetizers at five different restaurants in one night. New to the tours this year is The Planit, you can look forward to their board game nights on Wednesdays!

Tap In: If you like to end your day with a cold glass of beer, you’ll want to get in on this tour right away! For $30, you receive a different beer at each restaurant as well as appetizer samplings. Favourite tour stop Garbonzo’s Pizza Pub holds a trivia night every Wednesday if you’re looking to add a little competition to your after-work drinks.

Patio Crawl: Patio season is so short, which is why you need this tour. For $30, you get access to a plethora of patios plus one drink of your choosing and shared appetizers. The pizza at Carbone is so good, it’s life-changing! And I guarantee you’ll be doubling back for more zah this summer.

Winnipeg Wine: This tour might be my favourite! At each stop, you’ll get to sample two different wines from the restaurant’s selection and try some small bites pairings. One of the stops is at The Loft Salon, so you may be able to get a little hairdo touch up while you enjoy your wine. Tickets start at $75 (for an individual) and for $285 you have the option of touring all four restaurants and spending a night’s stay for two at one of downtown’s luxury hotels.

The Breakfast Club: There’s no Molly Ringwald or Judd Nelson, but this tour is still one you won’t be forgetting any time soon! For $30, it’s the whole Sunday brunch experience plus a little added cardio as you walk from restaurant to restaurant trying different breakfast samplings at each stop. Whether you’re a brain, an athlete, a basket case, a princess, or a criminal this is tour is a great stop!

Downtown Flashback: If you’re looking to get out of the office during your lunch break, this free tour is a great option to learn some interesting facts about our city’s architectural history. Tours start at 12pm at Air Canada Park and end around 12:45pm.

All of the tours (expect Downtown Flashback) can take up to 40 people, so get your group of friends together for a night, or morning, on the town. It’s always fun to find new places to eat, and these tours will let you to sample a variety of options so you know what to order next time! Book your tickets today–I know I will!

Bike or build – more wintry good times in downtown Winnipeg!

Nobody does winter like Winnipeg this year. Seriously, we OWN you, Polar Vortex. Bring on your ice and snow, we’re going to play in our parks and get on our bikes anyway!

I love that we finally seem to be embracing the fact that we’re a winter city! Over the last few years, winter activities have been growing and growing, and it feels like we’re finally hitting a tipping point. (others seem to have noticed too!) We’ve had classics like Festival du Voyageur for years, but now we also have:

And now 2 more!

Build

If you’re looking for family fun, this weekend is for you – there’s a snow maze planned for that pretty park behind the Millennium Library, and you don’t just get to go through it, you can help build it on February 1st! There’ll be hot cocoa, activities, music, and THE FACT THAT YOU GET TO BUILD A SNOW MAZE.  Fun fact: the landscape architect that designed the whole park is actually the one who designed the plan for the maze!

Bike

You might have seen a really cool tour that went on last summer called A Moveable Feast – people cycled from restaurant to restaurant, eating different courses of dinner along the way! There’s actually a big conference coming here in the middle of February called the Winter Cycling Congress – yes, you read that right. Hardy souls from places like Sweden, Finland, and all over North America who take to their bikes in winter are coming here! And as one of the conference activities, there’s going to be a winter edition of A Moveable Feast on February 13th! And they’ve saved some spots for the public too – so you can not only cycle in winter, and try awesome food, but you can meet fellow winter-lovers from around the world!
