Workin’ on my fitness

How is it already June?! Doesn’t matter. As of Wednesday we say goodbye to May, hello to the lovely month of June and with it starts my favourite season: SUMMER!

There are many things to love about summer, but perhaps one of my favourites is Fitness in the Park—free workout classes, outdoors, in the park—does it get any better than that?

New this summer to the Fitness lineup is Boot camp, led by the experts at No Limit Training. Boot camps runs every Tuesday (at Millennium Library Park) and Thursday (Memorial Park), 12-12:45PM, June 1 – August 31. This one requires the special attention of the trainer so space is limited. Be sure to sign up ahead of time online.

If Bootcamp doesn’t work up enough of a sweat for you, word is CrossFit classes will also take place throughout the summer! CrossFit classes will also require pre-registration; more information coming soon.

All the classic exercises are making a comeback for this summer season:

Wear your comfy shoes and get ready to dance! Zumba in the Park is back for the fourth year, happening every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 12-12:45PM, June 1 – August 31. Mondays and Fridays at Memorial Park; Wednesdays at Millennium Library Park.

The health and wellness gurus at Pilates Manitoba will be running Pilates in the Park: every Tuesday and Thursday, 12-12:45PM, from June 1 until August 31. Tuesdays at Memorial Park; Thursdays at Millennium Library Park. Remember to bring your own towel and mat, as well donations to the instructor will be graciously accepted—proceeds go to monthly charity of choice.

Last but not least, Yoga in the Park is returning to meet your much-needed, zen-filled lunch hour needs. Yoga Public will be leading the workouts every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 12-12:45PM, June 1 to August 31. Wednesdays in Memorial Park; Mondays and Fridays in Millennium Library Park. Bring your own mat, and for added good vibes: donate to the instructors who then give the proceeds to a monthly charity of choice.

And if that was a bit of an information overload, you can get all the details on
