Long weekend reads

It’s midday Monday and I’m already in full planning mode for the upcoming three-day weekend! The first long weekend of the summer always gets me looking forward to long, lounging days curled up with a great book! So whether you’re camping in the woods, chilling by the beach, or curled up on the couch this weekend—I’ve got the very best books to have at your side.

I’ve been combing through the shelves at Coles in cityplace to create a comprehensive list for you of some of my favourite books, and new ones coming out, that will make great reads for you this weekend!

Some of my favourites:

The Opposite of Loneliness by Marina Keegan
When she tragically died in a car crash shortly after her college graduation, Marina Keegan’s parents published this book of their daughter’s writing. This book is a beautiful mixture of fictional short stories and non-fictional essays by a talented writer taken way too soon.

The Vacationers by Emma Straub
Secrets, tensions, jealousies, and family—what a mix! Every family has their issues, right? Well throw in a pre-planned family trip to Mallorca, Spain, and you’ve got a family left with nothing but each other to entertain themselves.

Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty
This book starts off with a death, and the story then backtracks and highlights various events that lead up to that fateful day told from the perspective of three different women. It’s a story that keeps you guessing until the end!

The Last Summer (of You and Me) by Ann Brashares
This hidden gem of a book will make you fall in love and break your heart. It’s a simple story of life and loss filled with lines and phrases you can live your life by. Seriously, it’s that good.

New ones to look forward to:

Rich and Pretty by Rumaan Alam
Said to be the perfect summer read, this book follows the lives of two close female friends as their lives start to diverge away from each other. Coming June 7.

Invincible Summer by Alice Adams
How do the relationships in our lives stay intact? Follow the story of four British college friends over the span of 20 years in this book, which is a toast to enduring friendship. Coming June 28.

We Could Be Beautiful by Swan Huntley
A wealthy Manhattan woman has everything but a relationship. When her white knight finally comes a long, it leads to story of twists, turns, and secrets that will keep you guessing. Coming June 28.

First Comes Love by Emily Giffin
Two sisters are at a crossroads in this book – one desperately wanting to become a mother, the other not sure she chose the right life in becoming a mother. Where will their crossroads take them – find out June 28.

Anyways, I’m always looking for new books to read and would love to hear some of your favourites, so please comment below!
