The snow is melting, the sun is shining, and in the battle of winter vs. spring, spring is in the lead!
This weekend was BEAUTIFUL! And as much as I love skating down the Red River, and guzzling hot cocoa by a fire, I was ecstatic to see grass emerging beneath the shrinking snowbanks.
So this week, I’m keeping the good vibes flowing and getting involved in a great cause: Stone Soup!
Coming back for its fourth consecutive year, the Stone Soup fundraiser—in support of the Child Nutrition Council of Manitoba—helps raise money and awareness for school nourishment programs which feed thousands of schoolchildren across Manitoba every year.
Not only do you get to feel good about helping an amazing cause, you also get to taste the delicious soup for yourself! Donations of $10 or more are eligible for three stone soup tasting tickets, bread and fruit. You can donate online, at the Manitoba Hydro Lobby tomorrow (10 am to 2 pm), or at the door on Wednesday to get your tickets.
This year’s participating restaurants include some of Winnipeg’s top soup connoisseurs: Inferno’s Bistro, Feast Café Bistro, The Frenchway Café, The Tallest Poppy West, RRC School of Hospitality and Culinary Arts (“the Culinary Exchange”), Louis Riel Arts & Tech Culinary Arts Program, Clay Oven, Rudy’s Eat & Drink, Sydneys at the Forks, SMITH (Inn at the Forks), Elements, and 529 Wellington.
Stone Soup fundraiser will take place this Wednesday, March 16 from 11:15 am to 1:15 pm at Manitoba Hydro Lobby (360 Portage Avenue). And yours truly may or may not make a special appearance as one of the event’s guest judges..
So come out, make a donation, eat some soup, and support a great cause!
