Grazing in the Outfield

I have to say, one of my very favourite parts of summer is picnics.

It doesn’t have to be anything extravagant – brown bag lunch on a park bench or under a shady tree…or you could go all out with the perfect baguette, maybe some fancy cheeses and a bit of bubbly…

However you picnic, there’s something special about enjoying a meal under the open sky.

On Thursday, July 23, the Winnipeg Goldeyes, Dairy Farmers of Manitoba and renowned Winnipeg chef Ben Kramer present Grazing in the Outfield – a unique downtown dining experience in support of the Goldeyes’ Field of Dreams charity.

Ben will be cooking up his own personal take on ballpark favourites, and guests will be seated – you guessed it – right in the outfield at Shaw Park.

Sound like something you’d like to attend?

Tickets are available by phone (204-982-2273). But if you’d like to try your hand at winning a pair, why not leave a comment letting me know what your favourite #finditdowntown picnic spot is? Do you bring your lunch to a park? Do you pick up some take out, unfold your best picnic blanket? Let’s hear about it!

Also, if you’re looking for a more standard baseball experience, Goldeyes game tickets and mini-packs are available here.

Contest winner will be contacted Monday, July 20 after 3PM.

  1. my favourite #finditdowntown picnic spot would be a comfy bench on the lovely manicured grounds of the legislative building.

  2. I love visiting the food trucks & eating on the Leglislature grounds with my kids. There’s a good amount of shade & looks going on around there! Thanks for the chance to win!

  3. My favourite is Millennium Library Park! Great place to have lunch, read a good book, and even participate in Zumba in the park!

  4. My ultimate favorite #finditdowntown spot to have a picnic is along the river. Either the park along waterfront drive or Assiniboine. My job location changes often so I’m always trying to find new green spaces downtown to enjoy my brown bag.

  5. My favourite outdoor picnic place is crescent park in Fort Garry! We do packed lunches, plus they have grills to BBQ with friends!

  6. Lunch @ Old Market Square is the best! Did it yesterday…and maybe today, too!! I love the atmosphere. 🌳🐶🐜🐝☀️🍗🍞🍟🍩☕️🍴 #finditdowntown #grazingintheoutfield

  7. When it comes to eating outside for lunch, I usually head to Millennium Library Park. They have some loungers to lay back on and the Emptyful sculpture’s mist offers relief from the heat! #finditdowntown

  8. my fave #finditdowntown picnic spot is at the Forks of course. Preferably in the shade by the river, but if it’s crowded over by the stone monoliths beside the Johnston Terminal. And I always get fresh strawberries from inside the market.

  9. We;re from Brandon and we love to go to Legislature grounds and have a quick picnic when we are in Wpg. we’d love to win tickets to this event. we are in Wpg. on the 23rd.
