The 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil is kicking off today!
I suspect a lot of people are going to be … adjusting… their work schedules a little bit to catch the first game this afternoon. If that’s you, here’s a couple of places to check it out downtown:
- The Shark Club (233 Hargrave Street) has roughly 10,000 TVs, so that’s where the local venue team of the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015 is throwing their party! They’re inviting fans down for 3 p.m. today for a kickoff party to watch Brazil vs Croatia and get some FIFA giveaways like posters for the 2015 women’s event and the chance to win a prize pack at half-time!
- The Met is showing the games on their giant movie screen – the full schedule of their showings is here!
- Earl’s on Main will be playing the games, so I expect a packed lounge there!
FYI, The official countdown to next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015, when Winnipeg will be hosting some games has now begun – there’s a giant clock at the Forks counting down the days!
