The menus for Dine About Winnipeg are going online today!
For those who haven’t “dined about” yet, it’s an annual event where restaurants create a special 3-course prix fixe menu for dinner. You have to make your reservation early if you want to get in for a lot of these places – these restaurants sell out during this event!
This year, there are a lot of great downtown spots to check out the menus for – Amici or Bombolini if you’re in the mood for Italian, Hermanos for a trip to South America, classic downtown spots like Bailey’s and new favourites like Brooklynn’s Bistro, fine dining at the Forks with Sydney’s, The Current and The Beachcomber. And one of my favourite bistros, Dessert Sinsations – I got a little sneak peek at their Dine About menu, and let me just say YUM. Their three courses are themed on different regions – New Orleans, which starts(!) with an open faced pulled-pork “Po Boy,” followed by a jambalaya and dessert of Mardi Gras pineapple and almond bread pudding. They’ve also got a German-themed meal, and for something closer to home, Cree cuisine with bannock, savoury “Wapos” stir fry (that’s rabbit), and a blueberry tart in phyllo pastry to wrap things up.
I’ll be checking out more downtown menus when they go up today! If you want to, you can find them here – see you at dinner!
