Santa’s coming to town

Break out the caroling, the holidays have officially arrived! That’s right, the Santa Claus Parade is going to be spreading cheer down Portage Avenue tomorrow.

The parade starts at Portage and Young, and ends just past Portage & Main. It seems like a long route, but it’s going to be a beautiful day, so I recommend getting a good spot early if you want to have a good view of all the floats! The parade officially starts at 5:00, and this is one time of year I’m glad it gets dark early – all the Christmas lights shine much brighter once the sun goes down! Each block of the route is going to have block party going on hosted by a local company (I have sources telling my there will be candy canes handed out), and the parade is going to be presided over by Ace Burpee as Head Elf, which is officially the greatest job title ever.

There’s lots more going on before and after the parade too:

  • Free Concert  by Camerata Nova from 2:30 – 3:30 in the Manitoba Hydro Place Gallery, 360 Portage Avenue
  • Entertainment under the Canopy – 7:00PM at The Forks
  • Santa’s Workshop 3D graphic animation – 7:15PM at The Forks
  • Fireworks – 7:30PM at The Forks

I’m going to be out and about at the parade too – hanging out with Jeremy John from CityTV! From noon to 4pm we’re going to be in 6 spots around downtown, and if you find us there are prizes to be won! More details here
