I loved participating in the Commuter Challenge this year, and I’ve been cycling to work as much as I can this year. But I have a definite feeling that there’s a lot more that I – and everyone – can do to treat the environment right. And I know just where to get more ideas!
The Convention Centre downtown is hosting the Green Living Show this weekend. The show is a “celebration of all things green” – a whole field of ideas on how to live the healthiest, most-eco friendly and fun life you can here in Winnipeg.
The show has different sections, each with a focus on one aspect of living a green life. The Ethos Art Show focuses on work by artists who use natural materials that are friendly to the planet. The Hybrid Electric Car Show gives you a peek at wheels like the Nissan Leaf and the latest Smart Car.The ones I’m really looking forward to are the food stops, though. There’s an Artistan Gourmet Food market where you can shop for locally made products like cheese and chocolate, and a Forks Cooking Stage will have local chefs demoing healthy recipes that are guaranteed to give you some fabulous ideas for dinner. Who said living green has to be tough?
The show is on October 22-23, find out more at www.winnipeggreenshow.com
