Got anything booked for September 9-11 this year? I know I do!
I’m so excited that downtown’s newest festival is back again! I had an amazing time at last year’s Five Events, One Weekend – and now it’s got so many events they had to change the name. It’s ManyFest!
Last year I packed my weekend full with everything from running a 10km race along the downtown streets, dancing under the stars to my favourite moment – strolling down the middle of Broadway in a sea of Winnipeggers holding candles. I can’t wait for this year’s festival!
Here’s a quick rundown of what’s happening this year:
Giant Movie in the Park – Friday, Sept. 9, starting at sun down, approx 8pm
Roll out your blanket in Memorial Park and watch a movie on a giant outdoor screen under the stars!
Lights on Broadway – Saturday, Sept. 10, starting at sun down
Stroll beneath Broadway’s lit elm trees, and add your own touch of warmth!
Big Dance on Broadway – Saturday, Sept. 10, 4pm-11pm
It’s a dance party like no other with two stages playing various genres of music. Jive, swing, bop and groove beneath a canopy of light.
Ciclovia – Sunday, Sept. 11, 11am-8pm
Walk, jog or cycle all the way from Assiniboine Park to The Forks during this eco-friendly festival. Stop at Broadway to enjoy a farmers market, music, fitness demos, kids zone, bike zone and more!
Winnipeg 10+10 Race – Sunday, Sept. 11, 8am-11am
Lace on those runners and enjoy the scenic route of a 10 km or 10 mile run that starts and ends in Memorial Park. Stay tuned for the early bird registration deadline.
Broadway Farmers’ & Artisans’ Market – Saturday, 4pm-11pm & Sunday, 11am-8pm
Stroll among dozens of vendors, browse handmade jewelry, and pick up some fresh home-grown veggies.
Kids’ Zone – Saturday, starting at 4pm, Sunday all day
Bring out the whole family to enjoy bouncers, clowns, giant sand boxes, inflatable slides, crafts, buskers, activities, and much more on Memorial Blvd!
Taste of Downtown Winnipeg Wine & Cheese Festival – Friday, Noon-11pm; Saturday, Noon-11pm; Sunday, 1pm-8pm
Sip cabernets and chardonnays during this wine and cheese event held in Memorial Park. Tasting tickets: $1.00 each. Free entrance.
Hmm. Think I can do the wine tasting and dance Saturday night, and still run the 10 + 10 race Sunday morning? Maybe I’ll do the 10 mile run this year!
