The Peking Acrobats come to the WSO!

I like to think of myself as a fairly fit person – but somehow I think it’s going to take more than a few yoga classes to teach me to do this!

These surreal performers are the Peking Acrobats, who have put on shows all across the world (they even appeared in the movie Ocean’s Eleven!) And now they’re coming to Winnipeg! The Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra is bringing them to town for a joint show – while the WSO plays traditional Chinese music, the acrobats flip, twist, and do everything they can to make your jaw drop. They’ll be here for just three shows – May 13 and 14 at 8:00pm, and May 15 at 2:00pm.

If you like dinner with your show, the Winnipeg Chinese Cultural Centre is hosting an authentic Chinese 12-course feast at Kum Koon Garden before the Saturday, May 14 performance!

Tickets for the shows and the gala dinner are available at

  1. Wow , so exciting!

I went to the Manitoba Great Wall Performing Arts Chinese New Year celebration back in February and saw the Chongqing Acrobat Arts Troupe. They were simply incredible! I’d never seen anything like it in my life.
The athleticism and talent were astounding. There were also fantastic performances and dances from Winnipeg’s Chinese community.

I would LOVE to see this type of performance again, and would recommend it to everyone!

  2. Keep up with the yoga (and tai chi) just to hedge against the relentless ticking of time… as for the WSO, they sure have zoomed into the future…I like the changes, sparked by the New Music Fest and Bram Tovey – you gotta take the show to the people and bring down the walls to survive as a non-profit, and better yet, to flourish.
