London’s Calling

I am so excited for this weekend’s Art & Soul event at the Winnipeg Art Gallery this weekend. This year’s theme is London Calling and it’s going to be the ultimate Brit Invasion complete with music, prizes, food and art.

As you arrive, you’ll be greeted with a fleet of Mini Countrymans parked out front–along with more Minis featured on the main floor inside the building. I’ve dreamed of owning a Mini forever. I wonder if they’d let me have one? Probably not…

The main floor is being transformed into the streets of London. A double decker bus and replica of Big Ben will put in you in the mood for an incredible night. On the second floor the Swinging 60s room relives Britain’s psychedelic past. Of course what trip to England would be complete without a visit to the pub? The King’s Head Pub will be on site serving up appetizers and beer (expect to find me here).

On the the third floor, the London Underground comes to life with a train station bustling with activity including performers, photo booth and graffiti wall. And finally, on the fourth floor, a nightclub lets you dance the night away.

Along the way expect to encounter the scenes and faces of Clockwork Orange, The Clash, Twiggy, The Spice Girls, Her Royal Majesty, Fergie, Felicity Shagwell and Austin Powers.

Music will be supplied by DJ Dow Jones, DJ D-Lo, Cash Grab (aka Inward Eye, but this is their non-label name), Blackout City Kids, DJ Oxide, and DJ Adam West. There will also be an art auction where Cyrus, the artist, will be completing a piece during the event to be raffled off at midnight.

And on top of all that, there is a host of awesome royally-themed prizes up for grabs including crowned jewels from Hilary Druxman and a throne from EQ3.

The best part is that I’ve got two tickets to give away!

Leave a comment below to be entered to win. I’ll do the draw at 4pm today! Good luck.

  1. I think your posts are AWESOME!
I haven’t been to Art and Soul in years. I sure would love to go! It would be a great way for me to celebrate my recent recovery from a serious illness over the last few years.

  3. Hi,

My 83 year old mother-in-law spent her youth in England. I know she would love to go and see the exhibit. She is always saying that she misses certain things about Enghland.

  4. ooooh, I’d love to try Hy’s! A lifetime in this city and we’ve never been – although my husband meant to take me there a few years ago for Valentines day and then I got really sick and we had to cancel our reservations and never made it back 😦
