Getting into the spirit

Well the countdown is on. Christmas is only a couple of short weeks away and you can get into the spirit at Dalnavert Museum. They’ve got lots of holiday-themed entertainment happening in the next couple of weeks including performances of Charles Dickens’ Christmas Carol and a historical toy display.

Stop in as Dalnavert brings Christmas past to life with Victorian decorations, games and crafts along with some old fashioned story telling.

A CHRISTMAS CAROL: a performance series of Charles Dickens’ classic holiday tale

Five different Winnipeg performers will be bringing the classic Christmas tale to life from Dec 14-23. Doors open at 6pm and performances begin at 7:30pm.

Dec 14 & 15: Celeste Sansregret
Celeste is a writer, producer and performer working in theatre, film and television. Approximate running time: 90 minutes
Appropriate for ages 12 and up.

Dec 16 & 17: Ron Robinson
Ron’s 45 minute production offers the classic beloved scenes of ghosts and ghastly apparitions, linked by references to the Victorian period. Appropriate for ages 8 and up.

Dec 18 & 19: Debbie Patterson
Dickens’ A Christmas Carol combines the best of Debbie’s two favourite holidays. Yes, it’s about Christmas, but it’s also a ghost story! Approximate running time: 90 minutes. Appropriate for ages 8 and up.

Dec 20 & 21: Gordon Tanner
A strict traditionalist, Gordon will endeavour to read Dickens’ Christmas story in a manner that would warm even John Christian Schultz’s stony heart, with lots of accents and resonance and diction; the aural equivalent of figgy pudding, if you will. Approximate running time: 90 minutes. Appropriate for ages 8 and up.

Dec 22 &23: Ian Mozdzen
At Dalnavert this holiday season, Ian plans to channel humour, darkness, and physicality into a lively and fanciful performance of this Dickens’ holiday classic. Approximate running time: 90 minutes. Appropriate for ages 15 and up.

Tickets:  $20 (adults), $10 (ages 17 and under). To purchase tickets, contact the Manitoba Historical Society Dalnavert Museum at 943-2835 or

  1. Jennifer — now I feel better.Actually, just rcelntey I went to a Cousins on the south side of Fort Worth and it was very good. I didn\’t expect the response on the CM comments. I am going to make my point less flippantly (is that a word) and more constructively in another post. Again, thanks for your comments.——————–Stephanie – thanks for reading and commenting. I haven\’t been to Piola but will try it. As far as Mi Cocina\’s goes, part of what attracts us to restaurants is the memories we have made there. I have enjoyed many good times with my family and friends at the MiCo downtown. So, I can be as misguided as the next guy on how good it still is or isn\’t.But I do actually like Chili\’s, so then again, that may be my problem.Regardless, thank you for the compliment, it was very kind of you.————Melinda — thanks for the Thai suggestion.————Steven — Part of my problem is that I am not sure I have ever been to a real Chinese restaurant. I\’ll try the China Jade.———–Soypan — I think the Southlake store is doing better than the FW one. ———–Raul & Rachel — I like your blog. And thanks for stopping by.

    1. Usually, local insurance agceeins are cheaper than national ones like Progressive for example. My insurance is about $1400 annually between myself, my brother, and mom because she has totaled two cars and ive gotten a few tickets. Depending on the make of your car you want insured, the rates will vary. For example, a new BMW 1 series will cost more to insure than a 1980 civic, even though they are about the same size

    1. Sure, pay for the visit out of pocket, isaetnd of using insurance. The policyholder (your father) will get an explanation of benefits, showing the doctor charge. If you’re NOT a dependent of your father, you should have your OWN coverage. As long as he’s covering you and both of you are agreeing that you are his dependent (otherwise, you wouldn’t be using HIS insurance!), he’s entitled to this info.
