A little something for my friends

Hey Downtown Peggy readers, I’ve got an exclusive invitation for you! Tonight the Bay Downtown is going to reveal its newly arranged, condensed and updated space and they want to celebrate with you.

The Bay has been hard at work for the past few months rearranging the store into three floors (the other three will be rented out as office space), so they can provide a better level of customer service and product.

You’ll notice the women’s clothes are now on the ground floor and they’ve got several exciting new lines to check out. I’m particularly loving Moon, a new brand exclusive to the Bay (designed by no other than Saul Mimran, older brother of Joseph Mimran of Joe Fresh and Club Monaco fame) and of course, I’m totally head-over-heels in love with my Jessica Simpson jeggings I bought the other week. Edit by Canadian fashion icon Jeanne Beker is also new to the store, and has been generating a lot of buzz in the Canadian fashion world.

The details are below and you must RSVP to get on the list.

If you can’t make it tonight, don’t fret, there are still a lot more exciting things happening Thursday and Friday in the store including fashion shows and cake! (I love cake.) So stop by and see the new digs. As I’m sure you’ve heard, Zellers is moving into the basement, and they will be opening in November, so stay tuned for that one as well.

  1. went to this couldn’t find an open door. Was disappointed.

I live downtown and have taken in many of your suggestions. But and I understand would prefer to have a weekly planner rather than almost daily activities.

one more questions does it cost to go to the art galleries? Or is it open to the public. I have never been.

Tell, me what’s happening DT. I love this. Keeps me out of trouble. I like that you look for less expensive things.

    1. Ohhh, you were supposed to go through the parkade entrance and I realize I didn’t specify that. Sorry about that!

If you’re looking for weekly updates, you should sign up for the BIZ’s e-newsletter, The Mingle. It comes out every week and has a whole list of what’s happening. Visit downtownwinnipegbiz.com to sign up.

As for the art galleries–that depends on the gallery. Some charge admission and some don’t. Do you have something in particular you’re interested in?

      1. So sweet! You have lots of variety to your sensioss all the pictures from the same session have a different emotion. It’s making me want to fall in love all over again.

    1. Hi Rob, I agree it’s frustrating to watch the company invest so little in the downtown store, but things are improving over there. The people who work there are very passionate about their store.

I think it’s important people remember to support the store whenever they can and not opt to go to Polo Park or St.Vital when they can come downtown. That way the powers that be will see there is profit and a reason to invest in the downtown store.

We all have to love our downtown.

  2. Hi Peg: I love living DT and want to find out what is going on. Sites like yours inform people in a more personal way than “The Biz” which by the way is hard to read and very dry. Unless you have been there and done that I think you don’t try. The little vignettes you pick are hip and cost effective, just because I live downtown doesn’t mean I dont’ live and I don’t always want to go to the Forks. The one thing I think we are missing is a local bar/drop in type place. Sure there are hotels and resturants with over priced drinks but no place just to hang esp if you are over 50 (which a lot of DT’ers are)
    Keep up the good work.

    Cathy

    1. Hi Cathy, thanks so much for your nice message. I’m glad you find the site useful, and I always welcome feedback for improvement!

A few suggestions I’d offer as a good place to go for a drink are the LO Pub, 4Play Sportsbar and Elephant and Castle. Hope that helps!

      Cheers,
      Peggy
