It’s no secret that vampires are de rigueur right now, and I’m guessing that’s why the RWB decided to bring back their original ballet Dracula. I’ve seen it three times already and every single time I find it completely mesmerizing.
(Oh sure, you won’t find Edward Cullen or a telepathic waitress from Louisiana careening across the stage, but seriously folks, this is the dude that started it all.)
This is one of those shows where you don’t need to know a lot about ballet to enjoy it. Bram Stoker’s story is a classic and it will feel familiar to everyone. And while I always love the costumes that go along with ballet, the ones in this show are even more fantastic than usual. The shades of red and black combined with the whole gothic sensibility of it all is hard to resist (especially with Halloween right around the corner.)
Dracula opens this Wednesday and runs until October 2. You can purchase tickets through Ticketmaster or the RWB box office.
